Accident reduces Highway 17 to one lane

An accident on Highway 17, just east of Blind River, has reduced the highway to one lane and left one person dead. The accident happened around noon on Dec. 28, according to a release from the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP).

The name of the deceased has not been released pending the notification of next of kin, and details about the accident are not yet available.

Detours have been set up at Woodland Drive since the highway was closed around 11:35 a.m. Police estimate the highway will remain closed for five hours for investigation.
