A 26-year-old man charged in the death of three teens, after a drunk driving accident in Hanmer on June 21, has been released on bail as he awaits trial.

However, Nicholas Piovesan faces a number of restrictions. He must live with his parents and follow a curfew where he is not allowed to leave the residence from 11 p.m. to 7 a.m. As well he cannot drive or go into any establishment that serves or sells alcohol and he is to have no contact with the victims' families. His parents made a commitment to pay $25,000 as part of his release.

Piovesan is facing three counts of criminal negligence causing death, three counts of impaired care and control of a motor vehicle causing death, three counts of failing to remain at the scene of an accident causing death and failing a blood-alcohol test.

He is alleged to have hit and killed Jazmine Houle, 15, Steven Phillipe, 16, and Caitlin Jelley, 15, as they were walking along the shoulder of Municipal Road 80.

Piovesan will be back in court on July 29.
