A 21-year-old Alban man is facing charges after a collision between a snowmobile and a pickup truck on Jan. 22.

The accident happened about 2:30 a.m. on Delamere Road in Alban. The pickup truck was pulling out of a driveway when the snowmobile struck it on the side.

The snowmobile was driven by the accused, and did not have the headlight on. He suffered non-life threatening injuries in the accident. The driver of the truck was unharmed.

The snowmobile was extensively damaged.

The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), French River Fire department and ambulance attended the scene, where the injured driver of the snowmachine showed signs of being impaired.

Due to injuries, the accused was taken to the hospital where blood tests confirmed a blood alcohol level above the legal limit.

The man is facing charges of impaired driving, and is scheduled to attend bail court in February.
