Legal wrangling continues in the trial of a Sudbury teacher charged with engaging in a sexual relationship with a student more than two years ago.

Paul Bedard, 38, has pleaded not guilty to one charge each of sexual assault and sexual exploitation and invitation to sexual touching while in a position of trust.

The complainant was 15 years of age when she came forward with allegations back in April of 2002.

The first four days of the trial have involved a voir dire to determine the admissibility of certain evidence.

Justice Louise Gauthier of the Ontario Superior Court of Justice will decide what evidence presented during the voir dire will be admissible as part of the
trial proper.

Bedard has been suspended with pay from St. Benedict?s Catholic Secondary School since his arrest. He was a physical education teacher at the school at the time he was charged.
