UPDATE - The phone service interruption in Lively had not been restored as of 2 p.m., according to Greater Sudbury Police.

The police say they will issue a news release when phone service is restored.

In the meantime, they have assigned an officer to Lively in a marked cruiser for the duration of the phone service interruption should the public need assistance. Additional officers will also be patrolling the area.

Phone service for about 1,200 homes in Lively is still down after a main Bell telephone line was severed during the evening of July 8.

The phone outage is in the area of Tenth Avenue at Main Street. The interruption is currently being worked on, but it's expected to take more than four hours to repair the connection.

Greater Sudbury Police have increased patrols in the area. Cell phone contact to 9-1-1 is functioning normally.
