Cambridge woman slain by bear

Ontario police have released the names of a Cambridge couple that was attacked by a black bear Tuesday in Missinaibi Provincial Park, north of Chapleau. Jacqueline Perry, 30, was killed in the attack.

Ontario police have released the names of a Cambridge couple that was attacked by a black bear Tuesday in Missinaibi Provincial Park, north of Chapleau.

Jacqueline Perry, 30, was killed in the attack. Her husband, Marc Jordan, also 30, sustained serious injuries while trying to save his wife. Jordan is currently being treated at St. Joseph's Health Centre.

The couple was confronted by the bear at their campsite and attacked. Using a knife, Jordan stabbed the bear several times before he and Perry were able to flee the area with help from other hikers and get help.

The OPP and the MNR are currently tracking the wounded bear.
