A Michigan man is facing numerous charges following a fatal boat
collision on Manitoulin Island two weeks ago that claimed the life
of a Sudbury teenager.
As a result of the Manitoulin OPP investigation on Lake Manitou
July 12, David Bogataj, 59, of Riverview, Mich., has been charged
with one count of criminal negligence causing death.
Bogataj made his first court appearance in bail court in Gore Bay
on Monday and was released after agreeing to numerous court
conditions.
Those conditions included posting a $10,000 cash deposit, reporting
by phone to Manitoulin OPP every Monday and agreeing not to operate
a power driven vessel in Canadian waters.
Bogataj's next court date is schedule for August 14 in Gore
Bay.
