Charges pending following Hwy. 144 crash Wednesday

Officers from the Sudbury Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police responded to a motor vehicle collision which occurred at 2:40 p.m. Wednesday on Highway 144 at Joanette Road, just north of Chelmsford.

A northbound minivan made a left turn into the path of a southbound car on Highway 144 which resulted in both vehicles colliding.

The male driver of the minivan, along with his three occupants, received minor injuries.

The female driver, and lone occupant in the car, had to be extricated from the vehicle by the Greater Sudbury Fire Department. She was transported to St. Joseph’s Health Centre by ambulance with serious but non life threatening injuries

The highway was down to one lane for two hours.

The investigation is continuing and charges are pending, say police.
