A Sudbury man accused of being the driver in a fatal boating accident last summer on Lake Ramsey will go on trial.

Following a preliminary hearing last week, Justice Jean-Marie Bordeleau ruled there was sufficient evidence for charges laid against Michael Christakos, 39, to proceed to trial.

Christakos was charged following last June 21 that claimed the life of Samuele Pisani, 23. Pisani was a passenger in a boat operated by Christakos. The boat collided with another boat carrying a family of four. Several people from that boat were thrown into the lake.

Christakos will be tried in Superior Court of Justice on several charges, including impaired driving causing death, criminal negligence causing death and failing to stop at the scene of an accident.

A trial date for the accused has not been set.
