Community Safety Forums are being organized to help Greater Sudbury Police and their board of directors develop a 2008-10 business plan.

A forum for Wards 5 and 6 is being held Feb. 19 at 7 pm at the Vally East branch of the public library. A forum for Ward 9 is scheduled for Feb. 27 at 7 pm at the Colonial Inn in Coniston. Forums in Wards 2, 3 and 4 were held Feb. 6 and 8.

"A major component of this process relies on identifying the policing priorities of the community we serve, and as such, are holding a series of community consultations to discuss policing and crime issues," says a police news release.

Members of the public are invited to attend a safety forum to be held in or near their community.

Chief Ian Davidson, representatives from the police board and other members of senior staff will be present and will provide information relating to the development of a new rural community-based policing model. Councillors for the respective wards will also be present at these forums.

Dates and times for meetings in all other wards will be released at a later date.
