A 34-year-old Coniston man died July 1 around 7:30 a.m. after his jeep crossed the centre line on Highway 17 between Southview Drive and Hannah Lake Road, where it then collided with the trailer portion of a tractor trailer travelling in the opposite direction.

The jeep then lost control, entered the north ditch, struck a rock face, and flipped onto its roof.

Mark Tyson, who was alone in the jeep, died as a result of his injuries. The 42-year-old Winnipeg man who was driving the tractor-trailer was uninjured.

The highway was closed until 1 p.m. July 1, and motorists were asked to follow a detour.
