The Ontario Provincial Police are continuing their investigation into a fatal crash that took place around 4:45 pm on Hwy. 144 in Antrim Township.

Police say a small car was traveling northbound when it spun out of control and was struck by an incoming transport truck. A 21-year-old man and a 16-year-old girl, both from Perth Ontario, were in the small car and killed in the crash.

The driver of the transport, 48-year-old Kyle North of Levack, sustained minor injuries. His trailer was carrying nickel slurry and was spilled onto the road and the ditch. The Ministry of Environment has surveyed the scene and expects environmental damage to be minimal.

Hwy. 144 in Antrim Twp. will be reduced to one lane at times throughout the next three days as crews clean up the last of the spilled slurry.
