The Nipissing West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police arrested a wanted man New Year's Eve in Sturgeon Falls.

But a 51-year-old man from Cache Bay made it easy for them when he failed to stop for a red light at the intersection of Nipissing Street and Front Street.

“The vehicle was stopped and investigation revealed the driver was in violation of bail conditions and was wanted by Service de Police de Laval in Québec,” the OPP said in a news release Friday.

“As a result of further investigation, officers seized a quantity of drugs suspected to be fentanyl, hydromorphone, methamphetamine and crystal meth, along with a large amount of Canadian currency.”

The suspect is facing charges for trafficking, having illegal weapons, money from the proceeds of crime, breaking release conditions and, of course, failing to stop for a red light.

“The accused remains in custody pending a bail hearing on Jan. 6, 2020, at the Ontario Court of Justice in North Bay,” the release said.
