Greater Sudbury Police are warning the public about individuals who went door-to-door this morning (April 7) fraudulently collecting donations on behalf of the Canadian Red Cross for the victims of the earthquake in Italy.
The Canadian Red Cross has confirmed that it does not canvass door-to-door. All donations made to the organization are made by people who call Canadian Red Cross directly.
Police advise citizens to ask anyone canvassing door-to-door for credentials or, better yet, phone the organization to confirm they are collecting money in this manner.
