Driver drags traffic pole

A driver of a pickup truck was arrested by Greater Sudbury Police June 11 around 2 am when he struck a traffic signal post at the corner of Paris and Brady St. Police say the driver was attempting to turn onto Brady St. from Paris St.

A driver of a pickup truck was arrested by Greater Sudbury Police June 11 around 2 am when he struck a traffic signal post at the corner of Paris and Brady St.

Police say the driver was attempting to turn onto Brady St. from Paris St. The pole was severed at the base, becoming lodged around the truck, which was heavily damaged in the incident. The truck dragged the post for approximately two kilometres before coming to a stop on Ontario St.


The 22-year-old driver was arrested at the scene and transported to St. Joseph's Health Centre, where he was treated and released. He's been charged with impaired driving, dangerous driving and other traffic related offences.

The police investigation is continuing.
