A 51-year-old man was charged with blowing over 80 and impaired driving after being stopped by Greater Sudbury Police at a RIDE check on Durham Street June 16.

Breath tests confirmed the man had two-and-a-half times the legal limit of alcohol in his blood while he was driving his motor vehicle, police say.

Three separate drivers also had their driver's licence suspended for three days after they registered a warning on the alcohol screening device.

Besides Durham Street, RIDE checks were conducted June 16 on Notre Dame Avenue at Jogues Street and Church Street and William Avenue in Garson. A total of 350 vehicles were checked.

Police also issued four Highway Traffic Act tickets during the checks.
