Driver trapped in vehicle after serious accident

UPDATED - Feb. 5, 1:33 p.m.

A "serious" accident accident involving two vehicles on Skead Road trapped one of the drivers in the vehicle until Sudbury Fire Services was able to cut the driver free.

The accident, which happened around 10 a.m., Feb. 5, closed Skead Road for about three hours. Fire, police and EMS responded to the scene.

The drivers of both vehicles, a man and a woman, were taken to the hospital where they are undergoing treatment for serious but non-life threatening injuries.

According to Sgt. Eric Sanderson with the Greater Sudbury Police, there is no indication at this time if charges will be laid. Investigation into the accident is ongoing.

The driver of a vehicle involved in a two-vehicle collision on Skead Road is trapped in the vehicle.

The accident happened around 10 a.m., Feb. 5.

Sudbury Fire Services is on scene, and is working to extract the driver from the vehicle.

Emergency Medical Services (EMS) is also on scene to help people injured in the accident.

The road will be closed until the accident has been cleared from the roadway, so Greater Sudbury Police are asking motorists to find a different route.
