The OPP have released the name of the transport truck driver involved in a single-vehicle collision on the eastbound off-ramp from Highway 17 onto Highway 69 Monday.

Gurdeep Singh Dharni, 35, of Brampton, was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

No other vehicles were involved in the collision.

The collision was investigated by the OPP. The Ministry of the Environment attended due to a diesel spill, while the Ministry of Transportation attended to repair the roadway.

The driver of a transport truck was taken to Health Sciences North with critical injuries Monday afternoon after a single-vehicle crash on Highway 17 in the city's South End.

At around 4 p.m., a flatbed truck carrying rolls of steel was taking the off ramp from Highway 17 onto Highway 69, when it hit the guard rail, rolling off the road and going down a 30-foot embankment.

The force of the crash ejected the driver from the truck. The driver was the only person in the vehicle.

The eastbound lanes of the highway were closed in the area for more than seven hours.

Highway 17 was fully reopened as of 11:35 p.m. Monday. A collision closed the highway for around seven hours. No information about the collision itself is currently available.

The Sudbury OPP are responding to a collision involving a tractor trailer on Highway 17.

Eastbound lanes have been closed on Highway 17 at Long Lake Road as a result of the collision.

Emergency Services vehicles are at the scene, but there are no reports of injuries at the moment.
