Greater Sudbury Police are investigating an April 13 collision which ultimately led to an elderly pedestrian dying of head injuries.

An 85-year-old man was struck while he was walking on Hargreaves Avenue by a driver backing out of his driveway.

The man was sent to hospital, where he was initially diagnosed with minor injuries, including a broken nose. The man's condition was later discovered to be more serious, and he passed away April 18 from head injuries.

The pedestrian's name is being withheld pending an investigation by the traffic management unit.

"Drivers are reminded to be cautious at this time of year as the weather improves, as more persons are out enjoying the weather, including those walking and children on bicycles," stated a police press release.
