Estranged husband found guilty in double homicide

Reg Carroll was found guilty Dec. 16 of two counts of first degree murder in the deaths of his estranged wife, Carolyn Carroll, and Carolyn's boyfriend, Tony Comeau.

The bodies of Carolyn, 44, and Comeau, 45, were found May 16, 2008, at a remote cabin near Thor Lake, north of Capreol. Evidence heard at the trial revealed they had both been killed with a shotgun.

According to media reports, jurors began deliberations at 3 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 14, after about four hours of instruction from Superior Court Justice John Poupore.

The trial took four weeks to complete.

Carroll is scheduled to be sentenced at 10 a.m. on Dec. 18.
