Starting Dec. 28 and continuing through the New Year's weekend, Greater Sudbury Police conducted spot checks throughout the city charging four people with impaired driving.
Those drivers were given 90-day licence suspensions while another five people received 12-hour suspensions.
Since Nov. 17, police have checked 6,937 vehicles, administered 391 roadside breath samples, charged 40 motorists with impaired driving and charged 14 novice drivers for having a blood-alcohol level above zero.
