Garson man charged with aggravated sexual assault

Police attended on Elgin Street in the area of the Ramseyview Food Mart in response to a report that a female was stabbed on June 13 at 2 a.m. Upon arrival, police found a woman, 27, suffering from multiple, but non-life threatening stab wounds.

Police attended on Elgin Street in the area of the Ramseyview Food Mart in response to a report that a female was stabbed on June 13 at 2 a.m. Upon arrival, police found a woman, 27, suffering from multiple, but non-life threatening stab wounds. She was transported to St. Joseph’s Health Centre where she remains in Intensive Care.

Through an investigation, police determined that the female was the victim of an attempted sexual assault by a male suspect who fled the scene on foot.

Shortly following the assault, a 25-year old male was located on Kathleen Street attempting to steal items inside a vehicle and was linked to the attack on Elgin Street.

As a result of the two occurrences, the 25-year man from Garson was charged with the following Criminal Offences:

1.Aggravated Sexual Assault
2.Overcoming Resistance to Commission of an Offence – Choking
3.Uttering Threats to Cause Bodily Harm
4.Theft Under $5000.00
5.Possession of Stolen Property Under $5000.00
6.Possession of Break-In Tools
7.Breach of Probation (2 counts)
8.Failing to Comply with an Undertaking (2 counts)
