A 20-year-old Greater Sudbury woman is facing charges after hitting another woman in the head with a glass mug.

Greater Sudbury Police responded to a Flour Mill home on Feb. 27, around 11:30 p.m., after being called about an assault.

The 26-year-old woman was sent to the hospital and required stitches to close the wound, a police news release explained.

Const. Albert Lapalme explained that the two women knew each other, and an argument had been going on prior to the accused striking the victim in the head. He noted the report did not indicate alcohol was involved.

The search for the accused, the night of the attack, was not successful. She was located and arrested the next day, on Feb. 28, around 1:33 p.m. She has been charged with assault with a weapon.
