It was a close call for some trick-or-treaters on Halloween night this week after a vehicle jumped the curb on Burton Avenue, near the Cambrian Heights neighbourhood, sped across a few lawns and slammed into a house.

One child suffered a minor injury after being struck by a rock kicked up by the vehicle as it left the roadway.

Greater Sudbury Police responded to the single-vehicle crash at around 7:30 p.m. Wednesday evening.

GSPS wrapped up the investigation fairly quickly, determining the vehicle had been driving on Burton Avenue when the driver lost control, sending the car careening a few lawns before striking the home. Police didn't say if the home was badly damaged.

Facebook users may have come across a post on Spotted in Sudbury concerning the incident, though the information in the post (that two children were injured) doesn't match with what police report.

The driver has been charged with careless driving.
