House fire in Wahnapitae deemed suspicious, says police

Blaze on Aug. 18 sent woman to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries

An early morning fire on Aug. 18 at a home on Finni Road in Wahnapitae has been deemed suspicious, said the Greater Sudbury Police Service.

Officers were called around 2:30 a.m. after receiving a call from Greater Sudbury Fire Service. Firefighters responded to the call around 1:45 a.m.

The damage to the home was extensive, and two people were home when the fire started.

A 48-year-old woman was taken to hospital and treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Detectives in the Criminal Investigation Division are working in collaboration with the Ontario Fire Marshal’s Office, said police.
