Incidents outside downtown bars keep police busy

Greater Sudbury Police officers were kept busy over the weekend as there were two separate incidents outside downtown bars Sunday morning. Around 2:35 am Sunday, there was as disturbance outside the Grand Nightclub.

Around 2:35 am Sunday, there was as disturbance outside the Grand Nightclub. Six unidentified youths were responsible for breaking the back window of a Chevrolet Cavalier station wagon.

 

 

Besides this, a nearby shop window was broken resulting in several people attending the St. Joseph's Health Centre for treatment regarding minor cuts.

 

 

All of the suspects are described as being between ages 18 to 21 and two were described as wearing red shirts.

 

 

Greater Sudbury Police are asking anyone with information about these incidents to come forward by calling 675-9171.

 

 

Around 2:50 am Sunday, an altercation took place outside the Coulson Hotel.

 

 

Rodney Nahwegezhic assaulted an unidentified victim, say police. The assault consisted of Nahwegezhic using a closed fist to punch the victim in the head. As a result, the victim sustained a chipped tooth and sore jaw. The victim's glasses were also lost.

 

 

The Greater Sudbury Police Service Lion's Eye in the Sky camera captured the incident on video.

 

 

Nawhegezhic, 33, is charged with one count of assault and one of breach of probation. He's set to have a bail hearing today or Tuesday.
