A 36-year-old Sudbury man allegedly breached an order of house arrest and went on a break and enter spree at two businesses before being caught by Greater Sudbury Police, on Feb. 16.

The police were alerted by the man's electronic monitoring bracelet when he left his residence around 9 p.m. on Feb. 15.

At 12:30 a.m., Feb. 16, police responded to a report of a break and enter in progress at a Regent Street sewing business, but the suspect fled on foot.

About an hour later, an alarm at a Victoria Street tire business brought police to the building, where they found it had been entered and ransacked. During the search of the building, police found the man, who fled again, a news release from the police explained.

He was found hiding in a garage near a Hemlock Street residence.

Investigation into the two break and enters linked the man to both, as well as revealed that he had breached a condition of house arrest.

He has been charged with two counts of break and enter, possession of house breaking tools, and trespass by night. He is also required to deal with a breach of conditional sentence order.
