Officers from the Sudbury detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police responded to a single vehicle roll over at midnight Jan. 9, on Highway 144 just south of Levack.

According to police, the southbound car swerved on a corner, went out of control, crashed into the ditch and rolled over several times.  The driver and front seat passenger, who were not injured, got out of the vehicle and walked away, leaving a third person, who was injured and stuck in the rear seat, to fend for himself.

Police say the vehicle was demolished in the collision.

Upon further investigation and with the assistance of the public, officers quickly located the three males involved and identified the 25-year-old driver of the vehicle.  The Onaping Falls man was arrested and charged with impaired driving causing bodily harm and failure to remain at the scene of an accident. He was being held in custody for a bail hearing.

The injured passenger was taken to St. Joseph’s Health Centre in Sudbury and was treated and released for minor injuries. The investigation is continuing.
