Man charged in Hearst fire homicide

The Ontario Provincial Police has laid charges following an investigation into the death of 57-year-old Aldoria Fournier, whose body was recovered from the scene of a fire that destroyed his mobile home in the Lecours Trailer Park in Hearst on Mar.

The Ontario Provincial Police has laid charges following an investigation into the death of  57-year-old Aldoria Fournier, whose body was recovered from the scene of a fire that destroyed his mobile home in the Lecours Trailer Park in Hearst on Mar. 6.

Patrick Mitchel Duguay, age 23, of George St. in Hearst,  faces one charge of second-degree murder and one charge of arson.  

Duguay has been in custody since Mar. 8, charged with theft under $5000 as a result of a parallel investigation relating to the homicide.  He appeared at the Provincial Court of Justice in Cochrane on Mar. 17 and was remanded in custody pending his next court date on Apr. 1 in Hearst.

The post-mortem on Fournier was conducted in Sudbury at the Northeastern Regional Forensic Pathology Unit, Sudbury Regional Hospital Laurentian site, on Mar. 11. As a result of the examination, the OPP investigation was geared toward homicide.
The investigation is being conducted by members of the OPP Hearst detachment, under the direction of Detective Inspector Tim Millar, OPP Criminal Investigation Branch. 

The Office of the Ontario Fire Marshal assisted the Ontario Provincial Police with the investigation.
