Man sustains severe burns in early morning dumpster fire

A man sustained severe burns as the result of an early morning dumpster fire, for which Greater Sudbury Police are seeking information.

Police and firefighters were called to a dumpster fire on Regent Street in the area of Food Basics and House of Kin at approximately 2 a.m. on April 3. 

While en route, a second call was received advising emergency responders that a man was found in the area, having sustained severe burns to his body.

“The man was rushed to the hospital and is currently in serious condition,” according to a Facebook post by police.

Detectives from the GSPS Criminal Investigations Division are working in collaboration with the Ontario Fire Marshal’s Office to determine the cause of the fire. 

This investigation is ongoing, and police will be in the area canvassing for video surveillance footage.

Police are also asking anyone who may have witnessed or been in the area at the timet of the fire to come forward.
