Man who ran red light facing drug charges

Greater Sudbury Northern Life A 24-year-old man who ran a red light in Lively in front of OPP officers is facing drug and alcohol charges after they searched his vehicle.

A 24-year-old man who ran a red light in Lively in front of OPP officers is facing drug and alcohol charges after they searched his vehicle.

The officers were stopped at the traffic light at the intersection of Regional Road 24 and Regional Road 55, and as the light turned green and they were about to proceed, they observed a westbound pickup truck drive through the red light.

The vehicle was immediately stopped. A search of the vehicle and the driver resulted in the seizure of cannabis resin (hash oil) and an opened case of beer.

The man was charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle, fail to provide breath sample aned possession of a controlled substance.

He is due to appear in court Jan. 14. 2009.
