Man with concealed pellet gun arrested

A man is in police custody after carrying a concealed pellet gun. Around 11:30 a.m. on Oct. 19, police were phoned after the man was spotted in a retail store in New Sudbury with what appeared to be a handgun under his jacket.

Around 11:30 a.m. on Oct. 19, police were phoned after the man was spotted in a retail store in New Sudbury with what appeared to be a handgun under his jacket. He left the store and drove off, and store employees phoned police, while witnesses provided details regarding the suspect's vehicle.

The vehicle was located in the parking lot of the Super Mall, and the suspect was found in Zellers. He was arrested just past noon without incident.

At the time of arrest, the man was wearing a pellet gun in a shoulder holster, under his jacket. He will be charged with carrying a concealed weapon and possession of a weapon or imitation for a dangerous purpose.

He is scheduled to appear in court on Oct. 20 for a bail hearing.
