Miner's inquest hears testimony

A coroner's inquest into the death of a 47-year-old miner in May 2006 is underway this week at the Sudbury Court House. Ray Campeau was working on a shaft-sinking project at the Podolsky Mine, northeast of Sudbury when the accident happened.

A coroner's inquest into the death of a 47-year-old miner in May 2006 is underway this week at the Sudbury Court House.

Ray Campeau was working on a shaft-sinking project at the Podolsky Mine, northeast of Sudbury when the accident happened.

Testimony of what happened on May 25, 2006, has been given by three members of Campeau's crew who were present at the time of the accident.

The court has yet to hear from seven witnesses, including a doctor, members of the Ministry of Labour and Campeau's supervisors.

A jury consisting of five people will be tasked with making recommendation at the completion of the inquest on Friday.
