A federal offender wanted on a Canada-wide warrant as a result of a breach of their statutory release has been arrested.

The Repeat Offender Parole Enforcement Squad says Cory Peterson was apprehended in Barrie.

Peterson is serving a four-year sentence for possession of a Schedule I and II substance for the purpose of trafficking.

Earlier this week, the squad sent out a news release saying the 56-year-old was known to frequent Barrie, Midland, North Bay, Sudbury, Blind River and Sault Ste Marie.

“The Provincial R.O.P.E. Squad would like to thank the public and the media for their assistance in this investigation,” it said in an update on Saturday.

A missing federal offender could be in the Sudbury area.

The Repeat Offender Parole Enforcement (R.O.P.E.) Squad is requesting the public's assistance in locating a man wanted on a Canada-wide warrant for allegedly breaching his statutory release. 

Cory Peterson, 56, is described as standing 5-7 (170 cm) and weighting 176 lbs (80 kg) with thinning brown hair, a greying goatee and brown eyes. 

He has several tattoos, including a unicorn and eagle sun on his left arm; a skull and the acronym "FTW" on his upper right arm; a tiger and an eagle head on his right arm, and; a bear on his chest, as well as an unidentified tattoo on the left side of his neck. 

Peterson is serving a four-year sentence for Possession of a Schedule I/II Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking.

Police said he is known to frequent Barrie, Sudbury, North Bay, Midland, Blind River and Sault Ste Marie.
