Mistakenly released man back in jail

A young man who was inadvertently released from the Sudbury District Jail on Dec. 18 is back in custody. MACDONALD Chad MacDonald, 20, turned himself in at the jail Tuesday.

MacDonald, described by police as violent, was the subject of a police search after jail staff mistakenly released him instead of another man with the same surname.

The Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services are launching their own investigation into the matter. MacDonald is still facing weapons and drug charges.
