On Wednesday, Oct. 1, a major mock incident is planned for Manitoulin Island at an undisclosed location.
This incident will involve many emergency services including the OPP, United Chiefs and Councils of Manitoulin (UCCM) and Wikwemikong Police Services, volunteer fire departments, and the Manitoulin EMS service.
Also involved will be many agencies from Manitoulin that assist people.
Constable Allan Boyd, community services officer for the Manitoulin OPP advises, “This mock incident has been in the planning stages for close to a year and involves many different agencies. This is a training exercise and has a large educational component to it. When we train in this type of capacity we try to make it as realistic as possible. People do not need to be alarmed. Unfortunately exact details cannot be released until after the training is over.”
