Updated: Motorcyclist killed in crash on Radar Rd. Tuesday

A 62-year-old man who was travelling on Radar Road was killed Tuesday after his motorcycle left the roadway and he was ejected from the vehicle.

At around 2:30 p.m., the motorcycle was travelling on Radar Road towards Hanmer just north of the airport turnoff when it left the roadway.

The man was transported to hospital by paramedics, but unfortunately he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the hospital.

“Our condolences go out to his family and friends,” Greater Sudbury Police said in a tweet.

Radar Road was closed for around six hours for a police investigation.

Radar Road is closed in both directions for "an undetermined amount of time," said Greater Sudbury Police at a tweet at 2:58 p.m. Tuesday.

Motorists will be able to access the airport turnoff on Skead Road coming from Falconbridge Road. Motorists coming from Hanmer towards the airport on Radar Road will be rerouted.

Emergency responders are en route to a single motor vehicle collision involving a motorcycle on Radar Road north of the Skead Road turnoff, according to a tweet issued by Greater Sudbury Police at 2:39 p.m. Tuesday.

The extent of injuries is unknown. Motorists will experience delays in the area. Please provide room for responding emergency services.
