A motorcyclist who tried to taunt police into a chase was found guilty of numerous charges on Oct. 20.

On June 1, 32-year-old Marco Brilliant of Sudbury was driving his motorcycle dangerously through the city in the early morning hours.

As a result of a joint investigation by the Greater Sudbury Police Service, the Ontario Provincial Police and a member of the Provincial Asset Forfeiture Unit, Brilliant was identified as the operator of the motorcycle and was charged with several driving-related offenses in July.

On Oct. 20, the man was found guilty by Ontario Court Judge Guy Mahaffey of two counts each of flight and drive while disqualified, and three counts of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.

He was sentenced to 18 months in jail, a three-year driving prohibition and the motorcycle — a 2007 Suzuki GSXR 1000, valued at $14,000 — is to be forfeited to the crown.
