Starting Jan. 27, the OPP in Sudbury and Espanola will be conducting telephone surveys in order to improve the quality of policing being delivered and determine the public’s perception of safety and service from police.

Over the next two months, volunteers will conduct the surveys and enter the results into a software program. The results are compiled into a package that will provide feedback for the OPP to determine what the concerns and priorities are for the next two years.

“It gives us an indication of where we can improve our efforts in order to provide the best service possible to this community," said Sudbury detachment commander Gary Mills in a news release.

The calls will be made Tuesday to Thursday from 6 to 9 pm, Saturdays from 9 am to 6 pm and Sundays from noon to 8 pm. The entire survey takes approximately 10 minutes and phone numbers are chosen at random by a computer. Survey subject matter covers all aspects of policing including some local programs that are offered.

Anyone with questions relating to the survey can phone OPP Const. Michelle Coulombe at (705) 564-6900, ext. 2155.
