Update: Pedestrian struck by vehicle in New Sudbury; second such incident today

Collision occurred at intersection of Lasalle and Barrydowne

A teenage male pedestrian sustained serious but non life-threatening injuries after being struck by a vehicle this morning in New Sudbury.

The GSPS Traffic Management Unit continues to investigate the collision.

Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to contact Police at 705-675-9171 extension 2411. Citizens can also provide information anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).

The male pedestrian who was hit by a vehicle in this incident was transported to hospital by EMS, say police. The accident scene is now clear, says the Twitter page for GSPS Dispatch.

Greater Sudbury Police continue to investigate the collision. Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to contact police at 705-675-9171, ext. 2609. Citizens can also provide information anonymously through Crime Stoppers.

According to Sudbury.com reporter Jonathan Migneault, who is on scene, traffic is moving slowly at the corner of Lasalle and Barrydowne as Greater Sudbury Police investigate a collision between a pedestrian and a vehicle late this morning.

Police are taking statements from witnesses. A minivan has been stopped in the intersection.The victim does not seem to be at the scene any longer.

For the second time today, a local pedestrian has been struck by a vehicle, this time in New Sudbury.

Greater Sudbury Police issued the following tweet at around 11:50 a.m.: “Officers are en route to a pedestrian being struck by a vehicle at Lasalle @ Barrydowne. Expect delays in the area.”

Earlier this morning, a male youth was struck by a school bus in Chelmsford
