A 58-year-old man was sent to hospital with minor injuries after his pickup truck was hit by a train on the tracks crossing Lasalle Boulevard near Foundry Road April 14 at around 10:40 a.m.

The man had started to cross the tracks, and did not realize that a train was approaching. He was not able to get out of the truck before the collision.

The crossing is marked, but has no lights. Although the train operator tried to warn the driver with a whistle, the driver did not hear the signal.

The train stopped approximately a kilometre down the tracks.
