The family of a young man killed in a tragic boating accident in June 2003 on Ramsey Lake is asking the Crown to appeal the decision which found the driver of the boat not guilty of any charges.

Pisani
Michael Christakos was found not guilty by a jury Dec. 8 on charges of impaired driving, dangerous driving, leaving the scene of an accident, and blowing over the legal (alcohol) limit.

Charges of impaired driving causing death and two counts of criminal negligence causing death were withdrawn in the middle of the four-week trial.

"No one's life is disposable as this verdict makes our Sam's life appear to have been," the family says in a statement released to media this week.

"The public outcries of disgust in this decision, as proven by the many calls we have received, are enormous. We urge the Crown to quickly appeal this criminal case. We plead with the court to hear the appeal," the family says in its statement.
