Two pizza delivery drivers were charged with speeding by Greater Sudbury Police during the Thanksgiving weekend.

“Police ask our corporate partners to remind their employees that road safety is our common goal, and that no job is worth risking public safety,” said a press release from Greater Sudbury Police.

The charges were included in a roundup sheet of charges laid during Greater Sudbury Police RIDE checks, which were conducted on Regent and Paris streets overnight Oct. 9.

No impaired drivers were charged during the RIDE checks. However, police did issue one three-day suspension, caught three suspended drivers and handed out 16 Highway Traffic Act tickets.

Two of the three people charged with speeding were pizza delivery drivers.

A total of 603 vehicles were stopped during the RIDE checks.
