Police continue drug sweep of Sudbury, five more charged

Five people were arrested on April 29, when the Joint Forces Drug Unit, which consists of members of the OPP Drug Enforcement Section and the Greater Sudbury Police Service, executed a search warrant in a Bancroft Drive residence.

Five people were arrested on  April 29,  when the Joint Forces Drug Unit, which consists of members of the OPP Drug Enforcement Section and the Greater Sudbury Police Service, executed a search warrant in a Bancroft Drive residence. Two vehicles were also stopped in relation to the investigation.

Police seized 33.1 lbs of marijuana with a street value of  $300,480.  Also seized was $935 in Canadian currency and $100 in American currency. Weapons, including a machete, an axe, brass knuckles and a hunting-type knife, and various drug paraphernalia were also seized.

City of Greater Sudbury residents Scott Tremblay, 21, Shawn Loyer, 20, and Allain Philippe, 21, are charged with:
- Possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking
- Possession of property obtained by crime 
- Carrying a concealed weapon
- Weapons dangerous
- Possession of prohibited weapon

City of Greater Sudbury residents David Mah, 22, and Bradley Daigneault, 21, are charged with:
- Carrying a concealed weapon
- Weapons dangerous

Warrants have been issued for two more suspects.
