The Greater Sudbury Police Service is continuing their investigation into the death of a 25-year-old Val Caron woman, who was found dead in her home Saturday morning.

The woman has been identified as Lindsay Lemieux, of 3111 Leo St, Val Caron. The autopsy revealed the cause of death to be multiple stab wounds.

girlThe accused in the homicide, a 14-year-old who can't be identified under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, has been arrested and charged with second degree murder. He has been remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear in Sudbury court Thurs., Nov. 15. He is currently being held at the Northern Youth Services.

Staff Sgt. Sheilah Weber of the Greater Sudbury Police Service, said the investigation had revealed a relationship between the deceased and the accused, however, was unable to divulge the type of relationship.

At approximately 4:30 am Saturday, Nov. 10, police responded to a 9-1-1 call on Leo St. in Val Caron. Weber said the emergency call was made by a neighbour after being approached for assistance.

Police sought the public's assistance in locating a person of interest and a vehicle from the residence following the discovery of Lemieux's body.

The youth was located around 3:30 pm outside of Massey,  after providing information of his whereabouts to police through a third party.

The investigation has led police to believe the person who committed the homicide acted alone, Weber said.

The weapon has not been located. Forensic examination is still being conducted at the residence and may take several days to complete. Members of the Northern Regional Forensic Science Lab are assisting in the examination.
