Police looking for robbery suspects

Greater Sudbury Police are looking for two young men who robbed a taxi driver Sunday morning. Around 5:30 am, a taxi was requested in the area of Elm St. Police say the driver picked up two males who asked to be driven to the Eyre St. area.

Greater Sudbury Police are looking for two young men who robbed a taxi driver Sunday morning.


Around 5:30 am, a taxi was requested in the area of Elm St. Police say the driver picked up two males who asked to be driven to the Eyre St. area. The taxi driver was robbed at knifepoint, say police.

Both suspects escaped with an undisclosed amount of money. The driver was not injured. The first suspect is described as an Aboriginal in his late teens or early 20s, who stands about five-foot-eight, with dark hair. He was wearing a dark hooded jacket.

The second suspect is also described as Aboriginal and in his middle to late teens. He stands between five-foot-four and five-foot-six. He was wearing a red hooded jacket with a red bandana over his mouth.

Anyone with information is asked to call police or Crime Stoppers at 675-TIPS. This matter remains under investigation.

Another robbery took place Friday night around 10 pm as a woman was waiting for a ride on Frood Road near the TD Bank. The woman was approached by two males.

Following a very brief conversation, the suspects pushed the victim and then punched her when she fell to the ground.

Two rings were taken from the victim. The description given of the suspects is both were Caucasians standing about five-foot-nine. Each had a slim build and were wearing hoodies.

One of the hoodies was green and black and checkered.
