Police nab aggressive early birds

During the morning hours of Wednesday, July 13, Greater Sudbury Police responded to a 9-1-1 call about a male wielding a knife and crowbar at a residence on The Kingsway.

During the morning hours of Wednesday, July 13, Greater Sudbury Police responded to a 9-1-1 call about a male wielding a knife and crowbar at a residence on The Kingsway.

Upon arrival, officers spoke to witnesses that indicated they had been assaulted and threatened with death.

One witness said she had been assaulted earlier on in the morning.

Police arrested two males outside the residence as they tried to leave.

After searching the men, police discovered a small quantity of cocaine.

As a result, a 26-year-old has been charged with three counts of assault with a weapon, weapons dangerous, three counts of uttering death threats, possession of proceeds from crime and possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking.

A 30-year-old man was charged with possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking.

Both parties have been remanded for bail.
