Police searching for driver after 'suspicious' incident

A suspicious vehicle complaint around 3 p.m. has led to a more in-depth investigation by Greater Sudbury Police.

The driver of a “small black SUV or Crossover-type vehicle,” stopped and spoke with a 12-year-old boy as he was walking home from school, explained a news release from the police.

When the boy advised the driver he was almost home, the man drove off, and the boy continued walking to his house. Once home, he told members of his family what had happened, and they contacted police.

The incident took place in the area of Brenda Street in Greater Sudbury. Officers searched the area, but the suspect vehicle was not located.

The driver is described as white, 30 to 40-years-old, no facial hair, wearing a baseball cap and sunglasses.

The driver's motive is not known at this time and the investigation is ongoing, police stated.

Investigators are interested in speaking with the driver of the vehicle in question to determine his reasons for approaching and speaking with the boy.
