Police warn against door-to-door contractor

Greater Sudbury Police are warning the public about a contractor who has been going door-to-door in the South End, offering to do driveway repairs at a discount price with asphalt left over from other projects.

Greater Sudbury Police are warning the public about a contractor who has been going door-to-door in the South End, offering to do driveway repairs at a discount price with asphalt left over from other projects.

The contractor gets the money for the discount paving, and then provides less-than-acceptable workmanship. He later returns, telling the customer that he can complete the work to a higher standard for a much larger fee.

“Members of the public are reminded to use caution when dealing with door-to-door solicitation from unknown persons. References are always advisable and a complete written estimate should be obtained before agreeing to any work,” a police release stated.

The suspect is described as having a British accent, and using the first name Reginald. He claims to represent a company called K. Hodgins. He is described as 30 years old, approximately 5-10, with a goatee, wavy brown hair and brown eyes.
