There were several disappointed faces at city hall Wednesday night when one of Canada?s pre-eminent investigative journalists failed to show at what was billed as a safe communities town hall forum.

Michael Harris cancelled his appearance during the afternoon because of what organizers called unforeseen circumstances.

The town hall meeting was put together by the National Association of Professional Police (NAPP).

It will be rescheduled for a later date.

Advertisements stated that with the recent activity by organized criminals in Ontario it is critical for business and community members to be educated and make organized crime unwelcome.

Harris wrote the recently published book Con Game detailing his belief penitentiaries are run by the inmates.

Another Harris book, Justice Denied helped launch the inquiry into Donald Marshall?s wrongful conviction.

About 40 people initially showed up for the session. Half remained to watch a video presentation that Harris had taped during a recent speech.
